History Week 2009 is coming up – it’s on from the 5th to the 13th of September this year, and kicks off with the Annual History Lecture at Government House on the evening of the 4th. The speaker is Chief Justice James Spigelman, who will be talking about the Royal Commission conducted by John Thomas Bigge at the conclusion of Lachlan Macquarie’s governorship.

As well, there are events aplenty throughout Sydney and NSW which celebrate this years theme of Crimes, Scandals and Corruption. Mark will be taking some tours of Surry Hills, and Laila will be heading to the central west of NSW (Hay Gaol) and the Hunter (Newcastle Lock Up and Maitland Gaol) to present some lectures.
